One of a Kind Sold at the 2012 Canterlot Charity auction for $290.00. The money went towards the Kiki's Treatment Fund. The auction can be watched here: [link]
Here’s a ring version of Twilight Sparkle's beautiful Element of Magic crown hand crafted from sterling silver sheet and wire, with 9 simulant blue zircons secured in place with crystal cement. Transparent red enameling was used in the 'magic symbol' center piece at the top of the crown. It's an open shank ring, so it can fit a finger from size 7 to 8.
This ring was made specifically for Tara Strong's charity auction at Canterlot Gardens. Her auction is for the Kiki's Treatment Fund
I'm sure there will be a few inquires about the design of this ring compared to Twilight‘s actual Element of Magic crown. Let me see if I can answer a few of them before they are asked:
Why is it silver and not gold like the original? I had three choices that made sense when I was deciding what metal to use when making this ring: Gold, silver, or brass. Gold is over $1,700 an ounce right now, so it was out of the question. Brass is similar in color to gold, so it would be a perfect substitute. However, it’s also a pretty cheap material and I didn’t want to go cheap. So I chose silver. It may be the wrong color, but it’s affordable, and still a precious metal. The blue stones in the original crown are all oval, and not faceted. I had to work with what I could get Keep in mind this is a ring. It’s blown up quite a bit in the picture, but in reality it’s quite small, and my sources only cut oval shapes as small as 5x3mm, which is the size of the center stone. And cabochons are hard to get your hands on in tiny sizes. Why did you use enameling instead of an actual stone for the center piece? A stone that shape is impossible to find. I could’ve had one custom cut, but times a factor considering Canterlot Gardens is just two weeks away.
As I said before, this hand made piece is one of a kind. However, I have been toying around with the idea of making a cast version of this to sell to the public. It will be a limited design, maybe 5 rings max. But when it’s available I’ll let everyone know.
And - 290 dollars!? Crazy!
too bad I have small fingers TT.TT At least my class ring fits though
